Dr. Hassan Khannenje is the current Director of the HORN Institute for Strategic Studies, a research and policy think-do tank based in Nairobi Kenya. He is a Fulbright Scholar with a Doctor of Philosophy in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from Nova Southeastern University, Florida (USA). He holds a Master of Arts in Social and Public Policy from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh (USA), studied Diplomacy and International Studies from the University of Nairobi (Kenya), and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the University of Nairobi (Kenya).
Dr. Khannenje is an author and practitioner specializing in Conflict Analysis and Resolution, International Relations, Nonviolence, Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs, Peace and Security, and Terrorism and Violent Extremism especially the complex confluence between religiosity, politics, and conflict. He is also an adjunct professor of Peace and Conflict Studies at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, and a key resource person with Kenya’s Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, as well as an expert consultant with various local and international media houses that include BBC, CGTN and ZDF on issues of conflict, terrorism, security and diplomacy.
