Karl Cox is Vice President for Global Public Affairs at Oracle Corporation, an American based multinational company providing cloud services, software and hardware solutions in over 140 countries worldwide. Since joining Oracle in 2005, Karl has built and continues to lead a global team dedicated to working with governments and other stakeholders worldwide to promote public policies deriving value and growth in increasingly data driven economies. He is based in Paris with global responsibilities within Oracle.
Prior to joining Oracle, Karl held positions in IBM’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region. He also worked at the American Chamber of Commerce in Brussels and founded their European Union office in the 1980s. AmCham EU is now widely recognised as the premier organisation representing the interests of the American business community vis-à-vis the institutions of the European Union. Karl served as its immediate past Chairman of the Board and Vice-Chair from 2010 to 2017.
Karl is a Member of the Board of the Franco-American Fulbright Commission and has held numerous other leadership positions in organisations such as the World Economic Forum’s Global Futures Council on Migration, the US-ASEAN Business Council’s Singapore Committee, other IT industry groups and the Board of the American Section of the Lycée International de Saint Germain en Laye in the Paris region.
On a personal level, Karl is an avid skier, takes full advantage of the rich cultural offerings in the various cities to which his travels take him and is engaged in volunteer groups dedicated to the integration of migrants into their host countries.
